STITCH Design Shop, an award-winning architecture and interior design firm, is seeking an outstanding professional with a passion for furniture design and specification. This individual is visionary, detail-oriented, and motivated to support our design and procurement teams as a Furniture Specialist.
The Furniture Specialist will lead the furnishings scope across a range of projects, developing comprehensive packages that include furniture, lighting, accessories, art, and more. This role involves coordinating with outside vendors, presenting to clients, and supporting the execution of custom furnishings packages through STITCH’s internal procurement services.
This is a design-focused position that collaborates closely with both our residential and commercial teams and reports to the FF&E Lead (Commercial) and Studio Lead (Residential). The role plays a critical part in the success of our architecture and interior design projects firmwide.
The responsibilities for the Furniture Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Qualifications:
- To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree in interior design or equivalent work experience, a minimum of 3 years of practical experience in residential furniture design and planning, and proficiency in software that supports effective communication and project management.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment with a variety of project types.
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative furniture packages for residential and commercial spaces, working closely with clients and leading project designers to understand their needs and preferences.
- Key responsibilities will also include management of project process, creating detailed inventory of existing product, recording information, assisting to define the scope of a project, tracking scope and budget over the life of the project, requesting pricing and samples from vendors, selling the client on the right solutions, creating detailed furniture plans, and processing effective project punch and close out alongside dealers or our internal procurement team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Job location: Furniture Specialist will work out of our Winston-Salem or Greensboro office.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Advanced understanding of proper furniture specification and coordination.
- Strong knowledge of furniture vendors, manufacturers, dealers, and specifications.
- Interior Design experience with a focus on residential furniture design and selection.
- Must be proficient with MS Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word as well as Adobe (InDesign), Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketchup.
- Strong organization and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and move projects forward.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills and adaptable to changing demands.
- Professional and mature communication style and the ability to interact with team at all levels.
- Provide exemplary vendor relationship management skills.
